I tried this and, like the other free BBs such as MyBB and the old IPB, it's not easy to do since many bits of the URLs are hard-coded in  .........................

It's also not strictly necessary since Google is bright enough to index based on your topic titles. So is Yahoo. Any other search engine is junk and not worth the hassle of optimizing for. I only wasted the time with Sandbox ( not a QSF product ) because I wanted to play around with it and happen to like the look of the links. It's a huge major hassle to try and convert something with a codebase the size of QSF. I can't imagine how projects as large as vB or IPB did it without going insane. .........................

it is possible to do it with a filter mechanism (think regular expressions), but it is very inefficient and like Samson says, doesn't really add much value. .........................
