It's finally here! The release everyone has been anxiously awaiting for some time now.
This is a fairly major update to the code that includes an entirely new BBcode parser, new database backup/restore handling, a fresh new skin, improved timezone handling, tightened permissions security, HttPOnly cookies for IE, and numerous bugfixes.
This also includes one significant XSS vulnerability which was plugged up with regard to forum listings.
This release has been very heavily tested with three release candidates and should be very solid.
For those of you who are using the default skin
Be advised that the upgrade process is set to replace
ALL of the existing templates if you are still using the stock skin that ships with QSF. This is named "QSF Comet" and is stored in the "default" directory. If you have not changed either of these and have made customizations to your skin you don't want to lose, you'll need to rename one or both of these values
BEFORE you run the upgrade.
Detruire did a fabulous job with his HForum-3 skin and we believe this will go a long way toward bringing QSF into the modern age. The skin is entirely tableless except for the AdminCP permissions screen. So far in using it it's proven to be very bot-friendly so it should help with SEO as well.
