it is possible to do it with a filter mechanism (think regular expressions), but it is very inefficient and like Samson says, doesn't really add much value.

It's also not strictly necessary since Google is bright enough to index based on your topic titles. So is Yahoo. Any other search engine is junk and not worth the hassle of optimizing for. I only wasted the time with Sandbox ( not a QSF product ) because I wanted to play around with it and happen to like the look of the links. It's a huge major hassle to try and convert something with a codebase the size of QSF. I can't imagine how projects as large as vB or IPB did it without going insane.

Disable increase in post count

Found it, it was very simple "Posts contribute to user's total post count". I hadn't even thought of looking in group permissions. Thanks.

And so much for
I am nearly certain this feature has not yet been implemented
:p

I believe this feature is under permissions, so go into the group permissions for members and find the forum, and somewhere down the list there is something like 'Increment post count' - or something phrased like it.

I would like to request the ability to disable the increase of your post count in certain forums. Example being, I don't want the Off-Topic section to increase your post count. I am nearly certain this feature has not yet been implemented, but if it has please let me know how to use it. Thanks

Administrator Approval for New Members

Hi,

We want to use QSF for a vacation planner for a small group of users. Obviously, we don't want outsiders to know of our plans. Can you, at some point in the future, provide an option for administrative approvals for new registrants? This would be more effective with e-mail notification for admins when a new user has requested membership and also e-mail notification when the new user is approved/declined by the admin. This would ensure that the board will be completely private.

Complete multibyte/utf8 handling

hrm, so far this changes have not been made for several reasons, off the top of my head, not every PHP install has the mb/multibyte extension installed, also the utf-8 switch does not come without a performance overhead.

We can incorporate some of these changes into the 2.0 (the current trunk) but, we would need to ensure that we maintain backwards compatibility with existing installations such that people who don't want/need/have multibyte extensions can continue to run the forum software.

I've come across a severe problem with Quicksilver forums (v1.3.1) today.

First, let me say that the installation was pretty easy and I found things to be almost intuitive. :) Thanks a lot!

(The basic issue is described in this post: http://forums.quicksilverforums.com/index.php?a=topic&t=1357 )

This lead me to investigate further and I noticed that UTF-8 support is not sufficient yet. I observed the following problems:

[Request] Need the ability to block registrations by email address etc

ban.php is just for the admin cp interface when banning a user or ip address.

Maybe a suitable stop-gap solution would be to have an easily editable function that validates registration? By default it just calls valid email and valid username type stuff but can be extended to reject emails that contain mail.ru or usernames that don't start with student- and stuff like that
